Moth Study

A series of knit pieces inspired by Bricolage Studios Moth batts & braids. Batts were hand carded, spun, plied, and knit into wraps featuring holes of various sizes. The colors & textures are meant to evoke the mottled wings of a moth as well as the scraps of fiber found and papery texture of the Casing Moth cocoon. The dichotomy of two species of the same order struck me as particularly interesting; with one moth cultivated for its by-product and the other despised for destroying your favorite garment (maybe even the one made with fiber from the first moth) in the off season.
